during the conference, a special session focusing on the international issue of desertification prevention and control was held.
desertification, land degradation, and drought are common global challenges. experts attending the conference highlighted that china has always been a strong force in promoting global desertification prevention and control.
experts from the chinese academy of forestry, northwest institute of eco-environment and resources of the chinese academy of sciences (cas), xinjiang institute of ecology and geography of cas and ningxia academy of agricultural and forestry sciences shared key technological achievements in the following fields: the biodegradable sand barrier green technology and its large-scale application, sparse economic crop support-based underground root irrigation technology, ecological engineering technology development and application for protecting the tarim desert highway, and afforestation and grass planting technology for sand fixation based on water balance.
responsible persons of united nations convention to combat desertification (unccd) and officials from the countries from the belt and road initiative stressed that the china-arab states expo serves as a platform for deepening the mutual learning and exchange of experiences in desertification prevention and control through technology transfer and innovation cooperation. it is an important direction for practical and effective enhancement of technical exchanges and innovation cooperation between china and arab states.
